The Four C's
We use a set of 4 factors to describe and classify diamonds: Color, Clarity, Cut and Carats. Together, they describe the quality of a finished diamond and is directly related to its value. Each diamond's value is based on its own unique combination of the Four C's.
Color
Diamonds come in all colors of the rainbow, but they are divided in two categories: white diamonds and fancy color diamonds. To measure colorlessness range we scale it from D-to-Z, D meaning totally colorless, all the way to Z, a pale yellow or brown.
Clarity
Natural diamonds are the result of carbon exposed to tremendous heat and pressure deep in the earth. This process can result in a variety of internal characteristics called inclusions and blemishes. While no diamond is perfectly pure, the closer it comes, the higher it is value.
To the naked eye, a VS1 and an SI2 diamond may look exactly the same but these diamonds are quite different in terms of overall quality and price. Diamonds graded up to Si1 have almost invisible inclusions by an untrained or naked eye.
Cut
Diamond is renowned for its ability to transmit light and sparkles so intensely. We often think a diamond cut as shape (round, emerald, etc.), but a diamond's cut grade is really about how well a diamond's facets interact with light.
Carat
Used for both diamond and precious stones, carat weight is the measurement of how much a diamond weight.
Diamonds Shapes
As you may know already, round diamond is the most popular diamond shape. Its circular shape symbolizes eternity and love forever!
